2017 was a great year for the spring and fall tours.
Both Spring tours yielded great images. Miller's Lake and Jefferson Island Rookeries were going strong. While the weather forecast for both trips wasn't optimal, conditions ended up being very good with only one shoot at Jefferson Island ending a little earlier than planned.
Conditions for the Fall tour were ideal with a spectacular sunrise on the final day. Both Henderson Swamp and Lake Dauterive yielded some very nice images.
I had my D800 converted to infrared early in 2017 after upgrading to a D500 for bird photography. I was able to create some nice Faux Color and Black & White Infrared images with the camera and enjoyed being able to extend the shooting schedule into high contrast midday conditions. I offerred a IR workshop and will offer it again on a custom schedule if I have interest. The workshop would include both shooting and post processing. A Gallery of my infrared images can be seen here.
The 2018 tours have been scheduled. The tours are:
April 22nd - 25th, 2018 only 2 slots remaining
May 21st - 23d, 2018
November 11th - 14th, 2018
2018 Classes in New Orleans
I teach photography classes in the Bywater District in New Orleans. Several of these classes may be of interest to tour participants if they live in the New Orleans area. I'm offering an introductory class on bird photography, a class on macro photography, panoramic photography and basic and intermediate digital photography. The intermediate photography class would be a good preparitory class for my tours. Class information can be found here. and registration (as well as some excellent classes by other instructors) can be found here.
