Which Tour Is Right For You?

Every spring is a little different, but each tour is scheduled to capture a distinct stage of the nesting season. Whether your interest is courtship displays, active nests, or growing chicks, there is no wrong choice—only a different story to photograph.

April 18–21, 2027

Courtship & Nest Building

The season is just beginning as birds establish territories, form pairs, and build nests. This tour often provides excellent opportunities to photograph breeding plumage and courtship behavior.

Peak Nesting Activity

By mid-May, the rookeries are typically filled with activity as many species tend nests and exchange incubation duties. There are also chicks in the nests of great egrets and some of the other species. The variety of subjects and behaviors makes this one of the most dynamic times of the season.

Roseate Spoonbill Chicks & Late-Season Activity

Added for photographers hoping to capture Roseate Spoonbill chicks on the nest, this tour takes advantage of the species’ later nesting cycle. Many other birds will have larger chicks or young birds preparing to fledge, offering a diverse mix of late-season behavior. This is the most likely to capture wood storks which arrive late in the season.

Wood Storks

Green Herons

Common and Purple Gallinules

Prothonotary Warblers

Black-bellied Whistling Ducks

No two tours are exactly alike, making every visit a unique photographic experience.

Small Groups • Exceptional Opportunities

These tours are designed for photographers who want time in the field, intimate wildlife encounters, and personal instruction. With only five participants, everyone has room to work comfortably and receive individual attention throughout the trip.

Experience the Entire Nesting Season

Each tour is scheduled to capture a different stage of the breeding cycle. Photographers attending multiple tours have the opportunity to build a portfolio that follows the season from courtship and nest building to active rookeries and finally to Roseate Spoonbill chicks and late-season family behavior.

Many participants choose to return for more than one tour to experience these changing conditions and expand the variety of images in their portfolios.
