The photo of the week is in Black and White of the camps at MIller's Lake.
This week's photo is of a Prothonotary Warbler. This beautiful little bird frequents our swamps and was singing away along the side of the road. While I have quite a few shots of these birds, this is by far my favorite.

Taken early one morning on a tour. It looked like no sunrise for that morning and we were photographing in the other direction, then we looked back and saw this. One of my favorite shots from the Atchafalaya Basin.
Christmas like images are rare in Southern Louisiana. No Mountains, Snow or Spruce trees. To me this is the closest we come. A foggy morning with Cypress Trees. Never mind that they either have orange leaves, or no leaves this time of year. But it would look nice on a christmas card or as a screen saver for Christmas.
Taken just after an incredible sunrise on another very cold morning at Lake Dauterive. My favorite place to be this time of year.
This photograph is available for purchase either as a print or for stock usage here.
This weeks photo of the week is a shot taken at Jefferson Island. The Cattle Egret on the left just drove the one on the right off its pearch in the water. He's leaving with a new branch for his nest.
This images may be purchased as either a stock image or print here.
Taken many years ago using a film camera at Parker River National Wildlife Refuge in Massacussets, this is one of my favorates.
Arriving before dawn the swan was swimming in perfectly still water, as the sun rose, the sunrise reflected in the water allowing this shot, seconds later the shot was gone.
Another shot taken on a very cold evening in November. The light that evening was sublime and the fall colors on the Cypress were perfect. Lake Dauterive November 19, 2013.
This was taken in the passage into Cow Island Lake. The gator was on a log strongly lit by sunlight, the background was in shadow, giving the shot a very sinister look. The texture of the log mirrors the texture on the back of the Gator and the rear log draws your eye to the face.

In recognition of Vetrans Day on Wednesday of this week the photo of the week is of a Naval Gun by the Regional Military Museum here in Houma.
The image was made with a wide angle lens and then processed in Black and White to match the type of image that would be taken in the 1940's.
The image may be purchased here
This week the photo of the week is a panoramic image taken at Lake Martin. The image was made from 5 separate photographs taken with a digital camera using a panoramic head and stitched together forming one large image. It has been used previously as a 8' x 30' mural on the wall of a restaurant.
Taken on one very cold overcast day in November of 2013. I'm not sure if at the time we were in Lake Dauterive or Fausse Point, it was right at the junction of the two lakes. This is a case where an overcast day worked to my advantage, making the colors really pop and with few dark shadows.
