The first two 2014 Bird Photo Tours have completed. Due to our colder than normal winter, wading birds have nested very late this year. As a consequence very few birds were nesting in April as compared to normal. However, we had excellent conditions for photographing osprey in flight with many more nests than normal and one day of near perfect conditions highlighted by one nest with a male bringing in a fish directly in front of us and also bringing a stick into the nest.
For May tour, nesting season was in full swing with excellent conditions at both the Millers Lake and Jefferson Island Rookeries. Millers Lake has a huge number of nesting birds in stark contrast to last years poor showing. Near perfect weather and the large number of birds enabled us to get a large number of very good image. Some of the best conditions in years.
Space remains for the second May tour beginning the evening of the 18th. While there are never guarantees with the weather, the large number of nesting shore birds should yield another excellent tour. Contact me via the Workshops and Tours page on this Web Site if you would like to attend.
