Custom January Photo Tour
I led a custom tour in late January. Normally, I would not have expected to photograph a lot then, but we did well. The sunrise show above was taken there.
Water was back up in Henderson Swamp, and we got some excellent photographs, like the one above.
Please contact me if you’re interested in a custom tour.

More on Nikon Mirrorless
I’ve been refining my settings and working on perfecting my techniques with the Z8. I set up bird feeders in the backyard and have been practicing with the camera. Nikon released firmware version 2 for the Z8 and added, among other things, a bird subject detection mode. The mode is excellent at insuring the eye of the bird is in focus, it is simply amazing. Between the incredible Autofocus and the rapid shutter speed, I can capture small birds in flight, something I’ve never accomplished before.
The excellent Nikon PF lenses are a joy to use. Incredibly light and amazingly sharp, I can hand-hold 600mm and 800mm lenses with the Vibration Reduction feature I can make sharp photographs with very slow shutter speeds.. An example is the shot below, which was taken in the boat with the 800mm lens.
