Day one of a 3 day trip. On the way in I checked on Jefferson Island. There's good news and bad news. The good news is that the birds are about 1 month earlier than the last couple of years. The bad news is that the smaller island where we normally shoot is no longer viable, the trees are all in the water and there are no places for the birds to nest. The larger islands are going strong, but it requires a much longe lens.
After checking out Jefferson Island I checked out Lake Martin. the boat launch is closed and there's a fence barring photography all along the area near the launch. Hopefully this gets sorted out soon, but I'm not optimistic.
After checking into the hotel I went back to Jefferson Island and got seveal nice shots.
I"ve canceled the first and last photo tour due to the virus situation. I have 3 people who are driving attending the second. Thre is space for one more person, if you drive I think you'll be ok as we'll take every precaution and we won't be aournd many people. But I would recommend not flying in, be safe. I'll be monitoring the situation and if conditions warrant I'll cancel it as well.
