2024 Photo Tour Updates
Added Tours
My April 14th through 17th, May 6th through 8th, and November 3rd through 6th tours are full. So, I'm adding the following tours:
May 19th through 22nd, 2024
November 10th through 13th, 2024
The April 17th through 20th and November 17th through 20th tours only have two spaces available, so book them quickly if you want to participate.
Which Spring Tour Should You Attend
During the Spring tours, we visit several wading bird rookeries and birding hotspots in Southwestern Louisiana. Mating behavior begins in late January and February; birds are on the nest from late February through the end of May. Many birds remain in the rookeries well into July. The April tours typically feature the birds on the nest, and some species, such as the Great Egrets, have young chicks by that time. Other species, such as the Roseate Spoonbill, are later to nest and consequently only have chicks in mid to late May. I'm asked which tour is the best, and the answer is dependent upon what behavior you're interested in. I've created beautiful images of these birds from January to July and loved every minute of being there. We also photograph Osprey in the nest, which has a very similar schedule.
Which Fall Tour Should You Attend
The fall features Bald Cypress trees, often in splendid orange and rust hues, with the potential for fog or mist. Early in November, vibrant fall colors are more likely. From late November into December, fog and mist occur more frequently. Again, I've created beautiful images from early November to December.
